Notes
- I’m now marking all links to the New York Times’ site with “(NYT)”. The Times lets you view a finite number of posts (10?) for free every month. If you want to view more than that then you need a subscription. If you’re not a subscriber please consider becoming one but if you’re not inclined and want to be selective with your 10 freebies then now you’ll know when I’m linking to their site.
- No, I don’t think letting those 21,000 people vote would have changed the outcomes in Kansas. I think 21,000 voter registrations in limbo is additional evidence that Kansas is a mess. (That they re-elected Brownback by a wide margin is primary evidence that the state is disfunctional.)
- Buyer’s remorse, anyone?
- Lebeau left out Ed Brooke but otherwise a decent summary. It’s true. Ours our better. The quality has degraded significantly over the past 40 years but, if we grade on a curve, they’re still definitely better than the national average. And hey, if Charlie Baker turns out to be the next Ed Brooke or Frank Sargent then I’d be happy to see him re-elected. (I won’t be holding my breath however.)
- Hubbard is a go-to source for bad ideas – and he lists a fair number here – but at least he supports federal infrastructure spending.
