By eye, the rate of recovery since 2009 is about the about the same as it was after the last two low points.   Unfortunately, the fall was a lot further during 2008-9 than it was in the early 90’s or 2000.   The current recovery isn’t a failure by any means but, given where how far we’ve come relative to how far we need to go, it’s a pretty limited success – better than a sharp stick in the eye, certainly, but not a big success.
